No, not the blog. The show. Gosh, this one went so fast! In truth, I am glad it's over because I am knee-deep in three other projects, but it was such a terrific experience, I am also really sad. I was lucky enough to have an amazingly talented cast and crew - all of whom are also really terrific, loving people.
The cast party was here last night and it was a terrific time. Lots of laughs...... Some lasting friendships were born with this show and I am thrilled that of them are mine. With each show I direct, I am growing a dedicated following. It's so heady that these people *want* to work for me again; that I have given them an experience that they loved and want to have again. Actors and tech crew alike told me over and over again last night that they will come back to me again. It's reassuring to know that when I do a project, they will come out and lend me their talents and skills; insurance for when I go into a new show that I have a group of technical support and talented actors that will vie for a role to bring my vision to life. I am so honored by that. It's truly humbling. I mentored a spectacular stage manager in this production. It was her first time SMing and she was amazing.
Thea's show, which I am co-directing, goes up in less than two weeks. I really can't believe that The Graduate is over and it's on to the Children's show. And then Godspell. And then Festival.
I haven't committed to anything for next season yet. I think I am going to put in for Nunsense. I've never directed a musical and this would be a great one to start with. It's a small cast with clearly defined characters and all the music is character-driven. I guess I should pick up the CD and see if I like it.
That's all for now. Off to build the Children's set. We stuck The Graduate set last night. It's been almost 12 hours since there was a set on our stage! Best get busy!
